Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to become a member of Delta Zeta?

An undergraduate woman enrolled at AUM with at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA and the desire to grow in understanding and love as a sister.

How much time is involved with becoming a sister?

The New Member period is 7 to 10 weeks long and requires attendance at a weekly new member meeting on Sunday evenings. Other time requirements would include attending chapter philanthropy events, study hours, and other chapter activities throughout the semester.

How can I be sure that my grades will not slip during the new member period or after I become a sister?

Individual academic performance is Delta Zeta's number one priority.  Many of our sisters study together both during set study hours and on their own.  We have an academics chairman that coordinates assistance for sisters needing academic help.  Also, our sorority is comprised of members representing a wide variety of majors who can help you with classes that are causing you to struggle. Even more, it's helpful to register for the same classes as a sister with the same major so you can be study buddies.

What expenses are involved with being a member of Delta Zeta?

During your New Member period, you have one time fees that will cover your initiation, badge, pledging, and lifetime membership to the LAMP, which is the Delta Zeta magazine. After being initiated into the sorority you pay monthly dues throughout the semester. There will be miscellaneous optional costs throughout the academic year like t-shirts, formals, etc.

What chance do I have of becoming a leader in the Delta Zeta chapter?

You have every chance in the world!  Delta Zeta has executive committee positions, chairmen postitons, and officer positions that the sisters nominate and elect at the end of every fall semester.  All members of Delta Zeta are involved in another organization on campus. We feel that by encouraging our members to participate in other organizations and hold offices in these organizations, we are developing well-rounded women in Delta Zeta and in the community.
